How do reservation holders configure and then confirm their order?
Rivian has begun inviting R1T reservation holders to configure their vehicle. Because this is a new experience for customers, we want to share some background and FAQs to help you navigate the configuration process.
As a reminder, invitations are sent to reservation holders based on order date, delivery address, model selection and other factors. Invitations to configure cannot be requested.
What's new?
Once invited, reservation holders will notice that their configurator only allows them to select options expected to deliver in the next 1-4 months. This helps our customers better plan for their purchase by configuring vehicles being built in the near term. It also allows us to offer more accurate delivery window estimates in customer Account Pages.
What happens once I'm invited to configure?
Broadly speaking, you can expect the following sequence of events:
Rivian will email you an invitation to configure your R1T.
You’ll then access configurator, browse available options, and then save your preferred configuration.
Rivian will send you a follow up email asking you to “confirm your order”. Confirming your order means you don’t intend to make any more updates to your configuration, have confirmed the correct delivery address and would like Rivian to schedule the build of your vehicle.
You’ll confirm your order by following the link in that email to your order confirmation page. From there, you’ll review and then agree to confirm your order and its terms and conditions.
Once your order is confirmed, your Account Page will be updated to reflect your specific configuration. Your delivery window estimate will be set to “Processing estimate” until our next scheduled refresh and the factory options for your order will be price-protected so long as you make no further changes to your order.
What if I want options that aren’t selectable?
You may notice that certain options are not selectable (because they won’t be delivering to reservation holders in the next 1-4 months). If you’d prefer to wait until an option becomes available, please note that pricing and option availability remain subject to change until you both save your configuration and subsequently confirm your order.
You are not price-protected until both these conditions are met.
What does it mean to be price protected?
Upon confirmation of your order, your pricing for available factory options will not change in the future so long as you do not change any order details (including your delivery address). Price protection does not guarantee option availability. The pricing reflected in your order does not include taxes and fees paid to third parties or other costs for products and services you may add to your final purchase, and those amounts are not price protected.
When am I price-protected?
There are two actions that a reservation holder must complete to be considered price-protected:
You have saved your configuration
You have confirmed your order
Once both those steps are complete, your order is price-protected.
What if I want to reconfigure or change my delivery address after confirming my order?
By confirming an order, you signal to Rivian that we should begin scheduling production of your vehicle. If you’d like to change your configuration or delivery address after confirming your order, please contact your Guide.
It’s important to note that this will involve cancelling your existing order confirmation, and you will relinquish any pricing commitments and estimated delivery windows associated with your original order. You will be subject to the latest pricing and potential new delivery timing in configurator when you confirm your new order.
When will I receive a delivery window estimate?
We share delivery window estimates in customer Account Pages every three months. Your window will be set to “Processing estimate” until the next scheduled refresh.
When should I expect to take delivery of my vehicle?
Reservation holders can save configurations and confirm orders for vehicles expected to be delivered in the next 1-4 months, assuming no further changes are made to their order.
I was invited to configure an R1T. Can I configure an R1S instead?
Currently, invitations are only being sent to R1T reservation holders. If an R1T reservation holder changes their model to an R1S in their Account Page, they will lose the ability to configure a vehicle and be required to wait until invited to configure an R1S.
If I already changed model to an R1S, can I get my invitation back to configure an R1T?
Please contact the Customer Engagement Center to request that your invitation be re-sent.
When do I get a Rivian Guide?
After confirming your order, you’ll receive an email introduction to your Rivian Guide.
For full details, please review the Reservation Agreement. If you have any additional questions, we’re here to help.
