Does Rivian access my Gear Guard videos? Can Rivian provide a copy of a video from my collision?
Gear Guard videos can only be accessed within the vehicle. Rivian does not access those videos (e.g., during a Service appointment) without explicit customer consent.
Separate from Gear Guard, certain data and video may be captured during a collision and uploaded to Rivian. However, depending on the nature and severity of the collision, the vehicle and its components may be damaged such that the data and video are not successfully uploaded to Rivian. For this reason, and for timeliness purposes, we encourage all customers to use an external hard drive or USB drive to capture video using Gear Guard directly within their vehicles, including Drive Cam and Incident Cam.
