Is my vehicle eligible for Rivian Care and how do I enroll?
Our program underwriter, the party that evaluates and approves risk for Rivian Care, decides whether a vehicle qualifies. It reviews each vehicle against these criteria:
Vehicle age and mileage. Your vehicle must be under 8 years old and have fewer than 80,000 total miles.
Active warranty. The current program has limited availability for vehicles whose Rivian New Vehicle Limited Warranty has already expired.
Ownership category. This phase of Rivian Care is available only to customers buying a new or Rivian Pre-Owned (RPO) vehicle directly from Rivian, and to original (first-hand) owners.
Registration type. Rivian Care is currently limited to personal-use registrations. It isn't available for commercial vehicle registrations.
Maintenance history. Your vehicle must be maintained according to Rivian's prescribed maintenance schedule.
Enrollment windows. Existing owners can enroll during designated Rivian Care invitation cycles.
How you financed your vehicle doesn't affect eligibility. A leased vehicle is eligible on the same terms as a purchased one. What matters is whether the vehicle itself meets the criteria above, not how you financed or leased it.
We're working on expanding Rivian Care to more ownership types in future program phases.
How to get Rivian Care
How you enroll depends on how you got your Rivian.

Buying a new or pre-owned vehicle from Rivian
Add Rivian Care during your purchase process, if you live in an eligible state and your vehicle is eligible. You can include it in your vehicle financing so your monthly payment stays consolidated.
Rivian Care is available whether you're buying a new or a pre-owned vehicle, as long as you buy it directly from Rivian. Not all pre-owned vehicles are eligible. See Eligibility for the requirements.
For a new vehicle, you can also buy Rivian Care later, as long as the vehicle is still eligible. See "Why we recommend adding Rivian Care when you buy" below for why we recommend adding it at purchase.
Existing first-hand owners: the invitation process
If you're an existing owner and bought your Rivian new, directly from us, you can get Rivian Care in 2026.
Why is there an invitation process? We built our first Vehicle Service Contract program for customers buying new and RPO vehicles. With years of Rivian vehicles already on the road, we wanted to give existing owners a way in too. The invitation process lets first-hand owners opt into the same baseline coverage without a physical vehicle inspection.
How do I get an invitation? We run invitation campaigns every month. During a campaign, we may reach out to:
Existing first-hand owners who haven't unsubscribed from Rivian emails
Existing first-hand owners who filled out the interest form and meet the eligibility criteria
If your vehicle qualifies, you may get an invitation email. It links to a website where you can review plan options, pricing, and the full terms and conditions before you enroll.
Filling out the interest form moves you to the front of the line. See "I've already taken delivery. Can I still express interest?" below.
How long does it take to get an invitation? Invitations go out monthly and spots are limited, so it may take some time. If your vehicle is ineligible, we aim to tell you as soon as possible.
Does my invitation link expire? Yes. Your link is valid until the date shown in your invitation email. After that date, you can't enroll in Rivian Care without an inspection. The inspection-based program launches in 2027.
What if I don't enroll during my invitation window? That's okay. Protection programs need active enrollment periods to keep pricing fair, so each invitation window is time-limited.
Your vehicle has no Rivian Care coverage unless you enroll. No coverage is in place during or after the window if you don't buy.
You won't be able to join this initial group later. Rivian is working on future protection products for second-hand owners and for owners who buy after their window closes. Those programs will require a vehicle inspection and resolution of any existing conditions before you enroll.
I've already taken delivery. Can I still express interest?
Yes.
Log in to your Rivian account.
Go to the Rivian Care section.
Fill out the interest form.
If your vehicle is eligible, we'll send you an invitation email to get Rivian Care. We send invitations once a month. If your vehicle is ineligible, we'll email you with the reason it may be ineligible.
Pre-owned and second-hand owners
You own an RPO vehicle and didn't add Rivian Care when you bought it. A program for existing RPO owners launches in 2027. It will include a vehicle inspection and resolution of any existing conditions before you enroll.
You're buying an RPO vehicle from Rivian now. You can add Rivian Care now, as part of your purchase. See "Buying a new or pre-owned vehicle from Rivian" above.
You're buying, or bought, a Rivian from an individual or other third party. A program launches in 2027. It will require a vehicle inspection and resolution of any existing conditions before you enroll.
You're an existing second-hand owner. We're rolling out coverage for second-hand owners in 2027. Fill out the interest form in your Rivian account (see "I've already taken delivery. Can I still express interest?" above). We'll email you to let you know whether your vehicle is eligible to enroll once Rivian Care is available to you.
In every case above, these eligibility requirements apply:
Vehicle age and mileage. Under 8 years old and fewer than 80,000 total miles.
Registration type. Personal-use registrations only. Not available for commercial vehicle registrations.
Maintenance history. Maintained according to Rivian's prescribed maintenance schedule.
