Improperly Secured Seat Belt Retractor Assemblies
Rivian Automotive, LLC has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain model year 2022-2026 Rivian R1 vehicles.
What Is the problem?
Rivian has determined that on certain R1T and R1S vehicles, the seat belt retractor bolt for the second-row driver and/or passenger side seat belt retractor may not have been properly installed during the vehicle manufacturing process. This condition may cause inadequate attachment of one or both of the outboard second-row seat belts during loading.
An improperly secured seat belt retractor may not adequately restrain the seat occupant during seat belt loading, increasing the risk of injury. Rivian is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.
What will Rivian do?
Rivian will inspect and, if necessary, properly secure the seat belt retractor assembly in any affected vehicles free of charge.
