What happens at the end of my lease?
As you approach the end of your Rivian lease, you’ll have multiple options to choose from:
Get a new Rivian
Upgrade your vehicle with ease. Order a new Rivian and we’ll help you coordinate your lease return with your upcoming delivery appointment. Call (833) RIVIAN-0 to speak with a sales specialist or learn about our current offers.
Return your Rivian
Schedule a convenient lease return appointment to drop off your vehicle at a Rivian Service Center. We recommend you schedule your lease return within 30 days of your lease maturity date.

Purchase your Rivian
If you prefer to keep your Rivian, log into your Rivian Financial Services account or call (844) 868-2153 to learn about the purchasing process. When purchasing a leased vehicle, you are not required to pay any applicable end-of-lease charges. However, sales tax and other fees may apply.
If you are not ready to select one of the three options above, you may also consider a one-time lease extension.

Preparing for your lease return
Whether you’re upgrading to a new Rivian or simply returning your vehicle, we’re here to make the lease return process simple and straightforward. We’ll get in touch with you within 90 days of your lease maturity date to review your options and offer assistance.
1. Evaluate vehicle condition
Rivian leases include a pre-term inspection, which provides you with an inspection report to understand your vehicle’s condition. This report will be used in determining applicable charges for excess wear and is valid for 60 days.
Schedule your pre-term inspection with OPENLANE Inspections within 60 days of your lease maturity date or your intended lease return date, whichever comes first.

2. Schedule a lease return appointment
Contact us to schedule a lease return appointment. During this brief appointment, a Rivian Specialist will be available to finalize your documentation and answer any of your questions.
3. Gather all keys, accessories and charging equipment
Ensure that all factory-included key fobs, NFC cards, accessories (Camp Speaker, torch, air compressor kit, etc.) and charging equipment are present with your vehicle.
Adventure Gear that was added to your order or purchased separately are yours to keep. Remove any personal items you plan to keep prior to returning your vehicle.
4. Cancel automatic payments
Cancel any recurring Rivian subscription products from your Rivian account.
If returning your vehicle early, cancel any automatic payments for your lease.
5. Clear your personal information and preferences
Before returning your vehicle, remove personal information from your vehicle. From the Center Display, go to Settings > Vehicle > Service > Clear Settings.

Returning your vehicle
During your lease return appointment, a Rivian Specialist will help you to finalize your documents and answer any of your questions. At the end of your appointment, you’ll receive an email with your lease return receipt.
What to bring
The vehicle’s primary owner must be present with their matching photo ID
Original key fobs and/or NFC cards
Factory-included accessories and charging equipment
After returning your vehicle
Contact your local Department of Motor Vehicles
Once you’ve returned your vehicle, complete any registration or licensing steps with your local Department of Motor Vehicles, as required by your state.
Final billing statement
If you returned your vehicle within 30 days of your lease maturity date, you may receive a final billing statement from Rivian Financial Services up to 90 days following your vehicle return appointment, including any applicable charges for exceeding wear and use guidelines.
