Building forever for everyone
“We won't be successful if we only do one of these two things: If we only focus on the future, but don't solve the present, or we only solve the present, but don't focus on the future.”
RJ Scaringe
RIVIAN FOUNDER AND CEO

RIVIAN FOUNDER AND CEO
Every day, it becomes more evident that the environmental crisis requires immediate action. At Rivian, we believe the business we’re building can make a difference — not just by getting more electric vehicles on the road, but by focusing on economic and health outcomes that benefit everyone on the planet.
We’re helping more drivers go electric. Over half of Rivian customers are new electric vehicle owners.
Every electric vehicle on the road helps the planet. The R1S and R1T represent a lower carbon footprint than 70% of vehicles previously owned by customers.
Rivian has created 8,000 manufacturing jobs in Normal, IL. In the next few years, we expect to create 7,500 more jobs at our new facility in Georgia.
We co-developed “the 3Cs” with The Nature Conservancy. It’s a framework for prioritizing renewable energy projects that benefit climate, conservation and communities.
We recently made the Rivian Commercial Van available to business customers, unlocking new opportunities for sustainable fleets.
When you charge on the Rivian Adventure Network (RAN), every kilowatt hour is matched with 100% renewable energy.
Get to know our goals
Rivian was founded to solve what our CEO and founder, RJ Scaringe, calls a “once-in-a-planet" challenge. We’re setting goals and measuring our progress, and expect drivers everywhere to hold us to it. While this is only the beginning, we take our efforts and ambitions for the planet seriously. We hope you’ll join us.
A few things are top of mind when we design our vehicles and business:
Creating products that excel at work and play. Trucks, SUVs and vans are the most common and polluting forms of transportation. We’re determined to get more electric vehicles and Rivian Commercial Vans (RCVs) on the road.
Actively reducing our environmental footprint. We’re advocating for the protection of nature by considering the impacts of electric vehicles and their supply chains on both communities and the ecosystem.
How we're making it happen
“A more sustainable transportation and energy future is not simple or inevitable. How we approach each challenge will ripple through history for generations.”
Anisa Kamadoli Costa
RIVIAN CHIEF SUSTAINABILITY OFFICER
