Federal Incentives
Consumer Clean Vehicle Credits
The United States offers a clean vehicle tax credit for qualifying taxpayers who take delivery of eligible new Rivian vehicles between January 1, 2023 and December 31, 2024.   
Select new vehicles may earn up to a $3,750 tax credit:
2023-2024 R1T (all configurations)
2023-2024 R1S (all configurations)
2025 R1T Dual Large

To qualify, vehicles must have an MSRP of $80,000 or less. Rivian vehicles delivered after December 31, 2024 are not eligible for this tax credit.

Commercial Clean Vehicle Credits
The United States offers a clean vehicle tax credit of up to $7,500 for eligible businesses and tax-exempt organizations that purchase qualifying electric vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 14,000 pounds or less.  
R1S and R1T meet the necessary qualifications and have a GVWR under 14,000 pounds.

Section 179 Deductions
R1S and R1T both meet the necessary requirements for the Section 179 tax deduction. Taxpayers can claim a deduction of up to $30,500 for the business use of a Rivian vehicle for the tax year in which the vehicle is purchased/placed in service. To qualify, the vehicle must be used for business purposes more than 50% of the time.

Illinois Environmental Protection Agency offers an electric vehicle rebate. The current rebate cycle is open January 21 through April 30, 2025.

Louisiana
Louisiana provides a tax credit for residents who purchase an “alternative fuel” vehicle.

Massachusetts
The Massachusetts Offers Rebates for Electric Vehicles (MOR-EV) provides a state rebate for the purchase of battery electric trucks and SUVs.

Michigan
Cherryland Electric Cooperative offers residential customers a $500 rebate for the purchase of a new or pre-owned EV.

E-ZPass Minnesota offers a one-time electric vehicle incentive.

Mississippi

Vermont Public Power Supply Authority member customers are eligible for rebates of up to $1,400 on the purchase of a new all-electric vehicle (BEV) or up to $500 on the purchase of a pre-owned electric vehicle.
Green Mountain Power offers a rebate for electric vehicles.

Virginia
Virginia offers HOV Lane access for Alternative Fuel Vehicle license plates.

Washington
The Washington Department of Revenue offers tax credits for businesses that purchase new commercial vehicles powered by clean alternative fuel.

Rivian vehicles are designed for all types of adventures. R1S and R1T are available in three different drive systems: Dual, Tri and Quad. 

Dual
Our Dual-Motor AWD drive system consists of two single-motor drive units – one on the front axle and one on the rear –  which deliver instant power with a combined output of 533 hp and over 610 lb-ft of torque. This system distributes torque continuously between the front and rear drive units to balance performance with efficiency.

What drive systems are available?

Both the R1T and the R1S come standard with LA Silver. You can choose to upgrade your paint to Glacier White, Rivian Blue, Forest Green, Midnight or El Cap Granite. If configuring a Tri or Quad vehicle, you can also choose Storm Blue. 

For a limited time, Launch Green is available exclusively to Launch Edition Quad vehicles.

What exterior color options do you have?

The best way to familiarize yourself with R1T and R1S is to book a demo drive at one of our spaces or service centers. During your drive appointment, you’ll have the opportunity to experience the vehicle's performance, capabilities and features — including materials and in-vehicle navigation, on a set route. 

You must be 21 or older to drive a vehicle.
You're required to sign a general liability waiver on-site before driving a vehicle.
Any guest under the age of 8 must be secured in a car seat that must be installed by the guest driving the vehicle. Specifics are subject to local jurisdiction.

We also have display vehicles with additional configurations and accessories, and Rivian team members will be available to help answer your questions about charging, storage and more — before or after your drive appointment.

What can I expect during a demo drive?

Absolutely! In addition to you and your Rivian Specialist, you can add up to three guests for an R1T demo drive and up to five guests for an R1S demo drive. Make sure to add any guests to your reservation in your Rivian Account prior to your scheduled appointment. Time permitting, additional guests with a valid driver's license may have the chance to drive as well.   If bringing children, a parent or guardian must be present to sign the experience waiver and provide booster or child seats in accordance with state law.

Electric Upgrade Offer (April 22, 2024 to June 3, 2024)

Electric Upgrade Offer Terms and Conditions - April 22 to June 3, 2024

All Rivian vehicles built through model year 2024 are considered Gen 1. All Rivian vehicles model year 2025 and onward are considered Gen 2. You can shop available configurations of both Gen 1 and Gen 2 vehicles in R1 Shop, or custom build a Gen 2 R1T or R1S in configurator. If you’re interested in our Gen 2 Quad-Motor vehicles, you can also place a reservation for R1T and R1S.

What’s the difference between Gen 1 and Gen 2 vehicles?

Yes! If you’re in a leasing-eligible state, you can lease a custom-built R1T or R1S.  Why do I not see lease pricing in the configurator? Our leasing rates are refreshed monthly. Because delivery estimates for custom-built Rivian vehicles are generally 2+ months in the future, we don’t yet know what the leasing rates will be at the time of your delivery. To make sure we’re providing you with accurate info, we share your monthly lease payments once you’re in the digital purchasing process and close to taking delivery.

Can I lease a custom-built Rivian?

In March 2023, Rivian determined that backup lamps on R1S do not meet regulatory visibility requirements. When the vehicle is in reverse, the backup lamps illuminate. However, the optical center of the backup lamp may not be visible to pedestrians from certain required horizontal and vertical planes.
Though this is a noncompliance issue, the vehicle will alert pedestrians in other ways, including making reverse operating sounds. Additionally, sensors and backup cameras will detect objects near the rear, providing visibility to the rear and triggering visual and audible alerts to the driver. Rivian will replace the backup lamps on all affected R1S, free of charge. 

Are the updated backup lamps available?
Yes! Please call 1-855-748-4265 to schedule the recall service repair with your nearest Rivian Service Center immediately.

When will Rivian offer the updated backup lamp lenses for R1S?

Whenever possible, Rivian provides vehicle service through mobile appointments where a service technician travels to you. If service needs are more extensive, vehicles are brought to a nearby Rivian Service Center.   

When an owner’s R1T or R1S is inoperable or cannot safely be driven due to an issue covered under warranty, Rivian will assess the best course of action and potentially cover the tow expense. When the vehicle can be safely driven, we ask that our customers both drop off and pick up their Rivian at the nearest Service Center. In these instances, if you choose for the vehicle to be towed, we'll coordinate with a towing company that’s been provided our towing guide and training materials. When we arrange towing on your behalf, we simply add the cost to your work order and pass it through to the third-party towing company.   
We also continue to offer alternative transportation options while your Rivian is being serviced.

Where does Rivian offer leasing?

Protecting the underbody of our vehicle is a layered shield of high-strength steel, alloyed aluminum and carbon fiber composite. Engineered to absorb, deflect and distribute force from impacts, the shield is designed for protection in the most extreme off-road conditions.   With the Reinforced Underbody Shield, available as an optional upgrade, the underbody shield is enhanced with reinforced materials extending from bumper to bumper and side to side. What is the underbody made of?

R1S and R1T both meet the necessary requirements for the Section 179 tax deduction. Taxpayers can claim a deduction of up to $30,500 for the business use of a Rivian vehicle for the tax year in which the vehicle is purchased/placed in service. To qualify, the vehicle must be used for business purposes more than 50% of the time.

What is the warranty coverage on a new Rivian in Canada?

Driving Assist and Active Safety Assist features are standard on every Rivian vehicle. Driver+ is the assisted driving feature set associated with Gen 1 vehicles (model year 2022-2024). Driver+ is designed to support drivers and does not replace their attention, judgment and need to control the vehicle.
Driving Assist: Help with the manual driving tasks when you want it.
Highway Assist: Automatic steering, braking and acceleration on select highways while engaged.
Adaptive Cruise Control: Set your speed and automatically accelerate or brake, adjusting speed to keep an appropriate distance from vehicles in front of you.
Lane Change Assist: Assisted lane changes on the highway.

Active Safety Assist: Collision warning, alerts and preventative action.

Lane Keep Assist: Helps steer you back into your lane if you unintentionally drift close to or over a lane marker without a turn signal.

Rivian offers 3PMSF-rated tires for R1S and R1T, designed for a wide variety of terrain and climate conditions.

What winter tires should be used on Rivian vehicles?

Charging levels describe the rate at which you can charge your battery. These terms are industry standards and used as labels so you can quickly identify how powerful a specific charge station is.  

Level 3: DC fast charging — the quickest charge available. On the Rivian Adventure Network, you will initially be able to charge an R1T and R1S up to 150 miles in 20 minutes. That rate can increase with over-the-air software updates. In addition to the Rivian Adventure Network, our vehicles can also use public DC fast chargers with CCS connectors and NACS connectors (adapter required).  

Level 2: Public and home charging — capable of charging roughly 16-25 miles of range per hour depending on the electrical current available. Level 2 charging is accessible through the Rivian Wall Charger, Rivian Waypoints Chargers, public charging sites and by using a Rivian Portable Charger with 240V outlets.  

Level 1: A slower charge — handy if you need to top off on a regular household outlet. Using the Rivian Portable Charger with a standard 120-volt outlet, you will get a few miles of charge per hour.
