We choose our spaces for their vibrant locations or  their storied past—ultimately, these are places we’d like you to come in and stay awhile. 

*Retail vehicle sales and marketing activity will depend on state and local regulations for each location.

What are Rivian spaces?

No. We do not “sell” personal data or personal information as this term is defined by applicable privacy regulations. We do share limited personal data (as defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act) with third-party advertisers for Rivian’s targeted advertising or marketing purposes (also known as “cross-context behavioral advertising”).

Transfer Title & Complete Registration 
This step determines who will be listed on the title and DMV paperwork of your Rivian, including any co-registrants. 

Both primary and co-registrants must be present on vehicle delivery day to sign the DMV paperwork. If applying for financing through Rivian Financial Services (which happens later in the process), the co-registrant will need to be included in the credit application as a co-applicant.

Trade-in a Vehicle 
Get a trade-in estimate: 
If you’re interested in trading-in a vehicle and would like to receive a trade-in offer from Rivian, you’ll need the following trade-in vehicle info: 
Trade-in vehicle’s VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) or license plate number
Trade-in vehicle’s trim level
Trade-in vehicle’s transmission type (automatic or manual)
Trade-in vehicle’s current mileage

Decided to accept the Rivian trade-in offer? 
You’ll need to complete the required information and upload a photo of the trade-in vehicle’s title if you currently hold it. You’ll also need to have the physical title with you on your Rivian’s delivery day. If you do not hold the title, you will still need to upload a copy of the vehicle’s registration. 

Have a current loan on your trade-in vehicle? 
You’ll need the lien holder’s name and your account number ready to enter during this step. 

Note: Some vehicle trade-in quotes may require a manual review from our remarketing team. If this occurs, you’ll receive a notice on your account page after completing this step and will be sent an update via email after the review is completed to see your trade-in offer. 

Apply for Financing 
During this step, you’ll be able to apply for financing or leasing (where available) through Rivian Financial Services, bring your own vehicle financing, or select cash payment. 

Rivian Financial Services  
The fastest and most convenient financing option is through Rivian Financial Services where you can select the loan term, down payment, and monthly payment that best fits your need. 

You are under no obligation to take the finance offer presented. 

Here is what you’ll need for the RFS finance application for you and your co-applicant (if applicable): 
Make sure that the credit bureau reports for you and your co-applicant (if applicable) are not frozen 
You and your co-applicant’s (if applicable) full legal names, phone numbers and email addresses
You and your co-applicant’s (if applicable) Social Security Number 
Employment information (including income, employer’s name and phone number, years at job and any additional income information)
Home details (including whether you rent, own or something else; monthly payment; address and time at current residence) 

Note: If applying through RFS, your application may need a manual review. If this occurs, you’ll be notified on your account page after submitting your loan application, and you will receive an email with your loan application results. 

Third-Party Financing 

If you plan to use third-party financing, please follow these steps: 
Get approval from the finance provider of your choosing (your transaction’s Purchase Summary or Purchase Agreement can be provided to your lender to assist in securing your approval and loan). 
Once approved, confirm the lien holder information including the lender name, your financed amount, and the lender’s method of payment (Check, Wire, or ACH). 
Submit final payment for delivery. Before your vehicle is delivered, you must submit the financed amount and any balance directly to Rivian. 
Please upload the corresponding proof of 3rd party financing payment, i.e. photo of the check and tracking number or wire transfer receipt. 

Insurance Options 
In this step, you’ll upload proof of insurance for your Rivian vehicle. We’ll register your new vehicle on your behalf and collecting proof of insurance with your vehicle’s VIN number and submitting it to the DMV is one step we take to ensure a rapid and smooth registration process.

If you’re shopping for auto insurance, you’ll be able to quickly receive a Rivian Insurance quote for your new Rivian, any other vehicles you own, as well as home and umbrella insurance products. 

To receive a quote, you’ll need the following: 
VINs for any additional vehicles you'd like to include in your plan. 
Driver's license information for all drivers in your household. 
Information about any additional insurance coverages you currently have and wish to bundle.

Uploading Documents  
This step will notify you if there are any additional documents needed after completion of the previous steps in the purchase process. If you skipped a document upload opportunity in a prior step, you could always come back to this step to complete any required uploads.

Signing Contracts 
You will be prompted to electronically sign your transaction documents including your Purchase Agreement and any state-specific additional documents. We use a service called OneSpan. Any co-registrants will also receive contracts via e-mail for their required signatures. 

Completing Payment 
Please select your preferred payment method for your vehicle down payment (if applicable). Depending on the method you select, you’ll be given instructions on how to complete the process. Payment must be received prior to vehicle delivery. 

Cash, personal credit cards and money transfers from investment accounts are not accepted.

How can I prepare for the digital purchasing experience? (United States)

Rivian Navigation with Google Maps provides drivers with industry-leading routing, traffic updates, and search capabilities.

To provide mapping and navigation services, Google requests trip and sensor data from your vehicle, such as GPS location, wheel speed and the route selected. Google also requests such data to provide and improve the service for all users. 

To protect your privacy, the data used to update Google’s map is not associated with your personal Google Account, your Rivian account or your vehicle’s identification number, also known as VIN. 

Data is only sent to Google with your permission. This permission is needed for navigation to function: users must accept Google Maps’ Terms of Service and Google’s Privacy Policy, which are linked via QR code in the vehicle. Additionally, owners must enable two settings in the vehicle’s “Data and Privacy” menu: Rivian Navigation with Google Maps and precise location sharing for navigation. You have the choice to turn off either of these settings at any time.

What privacy choices do I have for the Rivian app? 

Pre-owned vehicles are used, which means they’ve been previously loved by one or more owners. Every pre-owned Rivian must pass our 137-point inspection before it can be added to our inventory.

What does pre-owned mean?

Rivian recommends the following maintenance be performed on time for all R1 vehicles.

Maintenance Intervals
Tire Rotation and Multi-Point Inspection: every 7,500 mi (12,000 km)
Brake Fluid Flush: every 3 years
Coolant Change: every 112,500 mi (180,000 km)
Drive Unit Fluid Change (2022-2024 Quad vehicles only): every 112,500 mi (180,000 km)
If driving on salted roads: clean brake calipers every 12 months or 12,000 miles (20,000 km)

Services Information

Tire Rotation
Rotation of all four wheels and tires (rearward cross pattern). Inclusion of full-size spare wheel and tire (if equipped) can be performed at an additional cost but is not recommended. This interval applies to vehicles with matching front and rear tire sizes. For configurations with different front and rear tire sizes, replace both tires on the same axle before the wear indicators appear on either tire.

Multi-Point Inspection
Examines interior and exterior of the vehicle to ensure normal and safe operation and replaces parts if necessary. Covers the following and more:
Tire pressures and tread depth including spare (if equipped)
Brake pad and rotor thickness
Suspension wear and fastener torques including lug nuts
Vehicle windows for chips and cracks
Vehicle functions check
Windshield washer, brake fluid, and coolant level check
Windshield washer jets and wiper blades

Brake Fluid Flush
Replaces the hydraulic brake fluid in the vehicle braking system. Includes bleed procedure on all 4 calipers.

Coolant Change
Drains and refills coolant using a vacuum procedure.

Drive Unit Fluid Change
Drains and refills Model Year 2022-2024 Quad-Motor AWD drive units fluid. This procedure is unnecessary for  Dual-Motor AWD configurations and all model year 2025+ vehicles as an integrated filter is monitored by the vehicle.


What is the maintenance schedule for R1 vehicles?

Rivian recommends the following maintenance be performed on time for Rivian Commercial Vans.

Tire Rotation
Flexible options for fleet managers based on tire inspection frequency:
Infrequent inspections: four-tire rotation every 6,000 mi (10,000 km), to ensure even wear and extend life
Standard inspections: perform a single four-tire rotation at 50% average wear of a tire set. This allows replacement of four tires at the same time with only a single rotation
Frequent inspections: replace both tires on the same axle before the wear indicators appear on either tire. This allows for a no-rotation option

Multi-Point Inspection
Every 12,000 mi (20,000 km)

Examines interior and exterior of the vehicle to ensure normal and safe operation. 

Covers the following, and more:
Tire pressures and tread depth

Vehicle windows for chips and cracks
Vehicle functions check
Windshield washer, brake fluid, and coolant level check

Comprehensive Inspection
Every 36,000 mi (60,000 km)
Includes all Multi-point inspection items, the following, and more:
Test brake fluid for moisture content and system corrosion
Brake rotor thickness
Test coolant for degrees of protection
Inspect low voltage battery
Driver assistance sensor inspection
Seat heating and cooling operation
Operation and cosmetic condition of additional interior and exterior parts
Inspect additional underbody and suspension components for damage
Verify interior light operation
Inspect radiator for damage or debris

Other Maintenance Items 
Every 3 years: replace brake fluid
Every 108,000 mi (180,000 km): replace coolant and coolant filter
Every 108,000 mi (180,000 km): replace drive unit fluid
If driving on salted roads; every 12 months or 12,000 miles (20,000 km): clean and lubricate brake calipers


What is the maintenance schedule for the Rivian Commercial Van?

Rivian Adventure Gear and Lifestyle Merchandise may be returned within 30 days of receipt in their original condition for a full refund, excluding any shipping fees. 

Some exclusions apply, listed below:

Rooftop Tent
Rooftop Tents are eligible for a full refund if returned within 30 days of receipt in the condition you received it and in the original packaging.

Rivian Wall Charger
Wall Chargers are eligible for a full refund if returned within 30 days of receipt in the condition you received it.
If you purchase your Wall Charger as part of a vehicle purchase transaction, the 30-day period will begin on the later of the day you receive the Wall Charger or the day you receive your vehicle.
Any costs of installation services are not refundable. At your request and cost, we can assist with coordinating removal of an installed Wall Charger by a certified electrician.

Service Installed Products
Products that are purchased from or installed by Rivian Service, like our wheel and tire sets, spare tires or Wireless Charger are not eligible for returns or refunds. We will honor warranty claims to replace defective parts.

Federal Incentives
Consumer Clean Vehicle Credits
The United States offers a clean vehicle tax credit for qualifying taxpayers who take delivery of eligible new Rivian vehicles between January 1, 2023 and December 31, 2024.   
Select new vehicles may earn up to a $3,750 tax credit:
2023-2024 R1T (all configurations)
2023-2024 R1S (all configurations)
2025 R1T Dual Large

To qualify, vehicles must have an MSRP of $80,000 or less. Rivian vehicles delivered after December 31, 2024 are not eligible for this tax credit.

Commercial Clean Vehicle Credits
The United States offers a clean vehicle tax credit of up to $7,500 for eligible businesses and tax-exempt organizations that purchase qualifying electric vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 14,000 pounds or less.  
R1S and R1T meet the necessary qualifications and have a GVWR under 14,000 pounds.

Section 179 Deductions
R1S and R1T both meet the necessary requirements for the Section 179 tax deduction. Taxpayers can claim a deduction of up to $30,500 for the business use of a Rivian vehicle for the tax year in which the vehicle is purchased/placed in service. To qualify, the vehicle must be used for business purposes more than 50% of the time.

State and County Incentives
Alaska
Alaska Power & Telephone AMP UP offers an electric vehicle incentive.

Arizona
Arizona offers HOV Lane access for Alternative Fuel Vehicle license plates.

California
California, Bay Area Air Quality Management District's Clean Cars for All offers a vehicle buy-back program which may help participants offset the purchase price of a new electric vehicle.
California Bureau of Automotive Repair offers a vehicle retirement incentive for retiring an operational vehicle which may help participants offset the purchase price of a new electric vehicle.

You can charge your Rivian vehicle on the road, at home or just about anywhere there’s an outlet. 

Our Rivian Adventure Network is a comprehensive network of fast-charging stations across North America — capable of adding up to 150 miles of range in 20 minutes. 

Rivian Waypoints are located near shopping centers, restaurants, hotels, parks and other popular destinations. Rivian Waypoints Chargers will be open to the public and have a J1772 plug, making them compatible with other electric vehicles. 

The Rivian Wall Charger is the quickest and most convenient way to charge at home — capable of charging up to 25 miles per hour. 

For flexible charging at home or on-the-go, the Rivian Portable Charger plugs into higher-powered 240V outlets as well as standard 120V outlets — capable of charging up to 16 miles of range per hour. 

We're also integrating with other nationwide networks to ensure charging is always easily accessible, wherever you go. Charge at any public CCS or NACS charging location, including Tesla’s Supercharger network.

How can I adjust my profile information in my Rivian Account?

Vehicle Registration 
This step determines who will be listed on the provincial registration paperwork of your Rivian. You will be required to work with a licensed broker to register the vehicle with Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) before you can acquire license plates and insurance in British Columbia as the owner.   
Provincial vehicle registration is required to obtain license plates and, in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, also a precondition for mandatory government auto insurance.   
Both primary and co-registrants must be present on vehicle delivery day to sign the registration paperwork. If applying for financing through Rivian Financial Services (RFS) which happens later in the purchasing process, the co-registrant will need to be included in the credit application as a co-applicant.    
You'll need the following items: 
A photo of your valid provincial driver’s license (front and back) 
A photo of your co-registrant’s provincial driver’s license (if applicable) (front and back) 
A photo of your current license plate and a copy of your current registration card (if transferring license plates where applicable) 
The in-province address where your vehicle will be registered 

If registering the vehicle under a business, you will be asked for: 
Your legal business name 
Your business address 

Note: If registering the vehicle in a business name, additional documents may be required – such as the Certificate of Incorporation and Notice of Articles. These documents may also include specific verbiage on the business letterhead and require digital notarization. 
Trade-in a Vehicle 
You’ll need the following vehicle info if you would like to receive a trade-in offer: 
Trade-in vehicle’s VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) or license plate number 
Trade-in vehicle’s make, model, and trim level 
Trade-in vehicle’s current mileage (km)

Please complete the required information and upload a photo of the trade-in vehicle’s registration if you currently hold it. You’ll also need the physical registration with you on delivery day. If you’re not the primary registrant, you will still need to upload a copy of the vehicle’s registration.  
Have a current loan on your trade-in vehicle?
You’ll need the lien holder’s name and your account number ready to enter.   
Note: Trade-in quotes may require a manual review from our remarketing team. You’ll receive a notice on your account page after completing this step and will be sent an update via email after the review is completed to see your trade-in offer. 
Apply for Financing 
You can apply for financing through Rivian Financial Services, bring your own third-party financing, or pay in full.   
Rivian Financial Services (RFS)
The fastest and most convenient financing option is through Rivian Financial Services where you can select the loan term, down payment, and monthly payment that best fits your needs.  There is no obligation to take the finance offer. Business applications through Rivian Financial Services for financing are not supported at this time.   
What you’ll need for the RFS application for you and your co-applicant (if applicable): 
Ensure credit bureau reports for you and your co-applicant (if applicable) are not frozen 
You and your co-applicant’s (if applicable) full legal names, phone numbers and email addresses 
Employment information (income, employer’s name and phone number, years at job and any additional income information) 
Home details (rent, own or something else; monthly payment; address and time at current residence) 

Third-Party Financing
Please follow these steps for third-party financing: 
Get approval from the finance provider of your choosing (your transaction’s Purchase Summary or Purchase Agreement can be provided to your lender to assist in securing your approval and loan). 
Once approved, confirm the lien holder information including the lender name, your financed amount, and the lender’s method of payment (ACSS, check, or wire). 
Submit final payment for delivery approximately two to three days before delivery.  
Upload a photo of the check and tracking number or wire transfer receipt. 

Insurance Options  
In British Columbia, mandatory auto insurance is provided by ICBC* and sold through a network of ICBC-licensed Autoplan brokers.    
These ICBC-licensed Autoplan brokers will assist you with your vehicle registration and auto insurance. For your convenience, we are working with Western**.   
Please note that some financial lenders may require customers to purchase specific additional insurance coverage.  
Using Western
Western has streamlined the registration, insurance, and delivery process. If you would like to use Western’s services, we will pass on your details to Western and they will reach out to you directly. A Western representative will contact you prior to the delivery date of your vehicle.  
Please make sure that you inform Western if you decide to trade-in a vehicle and if you require new plates or would like to request the transfer of existing plates.  
Using another ICBC Autoplan broker
If you choose to go with an ICBC Autoplan broker other than Western, you will need to manage the process yourself.   
Your Rivian Guide will provide you with the necessary documents (APV9T Transfer/Tax Form and New Vehicle Information Statement (NVIS)). You will be responsible for completing these documents with your broker and submitting these and other documents to Rivian prior to delivery.  
Please make sure you inform your broker if you decide to trade-in a vehicle and if you require new plates or would like to request the transfer of existing plates.  
It is also recommended that you arrange an ICBC-licensed field agent from your selected ICBC broker to accompany you to your delivery day appointment. Please note, your Autoplan insurance policy must be active on or prior to your scheduled delivery date.  
During the delivery process, you will need to provide a copy of the Owner’s Certificate of Insurance and Vehicle License with your new Rivian's VIN included.

*The Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (“ICBC”) is a provincial Crown corporation providing auto insurance, driver licensing, road safety, and other products and services in British Columbia.   
**Services optional. Western Financial Group and Western Coast Insurance Services (“WFG”) are licensed ICBC Autoplan brokers.   
Rivian is not a licensed insurance company or agency in Canada. Rivian may receive a referral fee from WFG if you choose to use their optional services. If you choose another ICBC Autoplan broker, it will not affect your transaction with Rivian. 
Uploading Documents 
This step will notify you if there are any additional documents needed after the completion of the previous steps in the purchase process. If you skipped a document upload opportunity in a prior step, you could always come back to this step to complete any required uploads. 
Signing Contracts 
You will be prompted to electronically sign your transaction documents including your Purchase Agreement and any province-specific additional documents.  We use a service called OneSpan. Any co-registrants / co-applicants on the transaction will receive contracts via e-mail for their required signatures. 
Completing Payment 
Please select your preferred payment method for your vehicle down payment (if applicable). Depending on the method you select, you’ll be given instructions on how to complete the process. Payment should be submitted 48 hours prior to scheduled delivery to avoid any delivery delays.    
Accepted payment methods are pre-authorized debit payments using the Automated Clearing Settlement System (ACSS) provided by Payments Canada via Stripe, Wire Transfer, or Certified/Cashier’s check.   
In seeking a Wire Transfer or check as the preferred payment option, all payment instructions are found at the bottom of the Purchase Summary sheet within the Purchase Agreement. Alternatively, they can be provided by your guide upon request. 
Taking Delivery

Note: For certain delivery addresses, we may use third-party shipping to deliver your Rivian, which will require all payment to be submitted prior to scheduling delivery. Your Guide will let you know if this is necessary.
