Pet Comfort and Pet Cam
Pet Comfort keeps your cabin at a steady temperature while you're away from your vehicle. Learn how to turn it on and off from the vehicle and the Rivian app, and how to use Pet Cam on R2.
What is Pet Comfort?
Pet Comfort, also known as Pet Mode, maintains a consistent temperature in your cabin to keep your pets comfortable and safe while you're away from the vehicle.
‼️NOTE: Pet Comfort is designed for pets only. Never leave a child unattended in the vehicle.
Activating Pet Comfort
Before you leave your vehicle, press the paw icon in the upper right corner of the main climate control screen.
If your vehicle has more than 50 miles of range and is in Park, you can set a temperature between 68°F and 74°F, which the vehicle maintains while you're away. If you don't set a temperature, the vehicle keeps the cabin at 72°F.
After you exit and close all doors, the center display shows a message letting people nearby know your pet is safe and comfortable, along with the current cabin temperature and set point. Opening a door hides the message. It returns after all doors are closed, as long as Pet Comfort is still on and no one is in the driver's seat.
Turn Pet Comfort on and off from the Rivian app
Use the Rivian mobile app version 3.17 or later to turn Pet Comfort on or off when you're away from your vehicle. This is available on R1T and R1S (Gen 1 and Gen 2) and on R2.
Turn on remotely: If you forgot to turn on Pet Comfort before leaving, you can turn it on from the Rivian app.
Turn off remotely: Press the paw icon in the climate micro-app on the app dashboard.
Confirmation: The app asks you to tap to confirm each time you turn Pet Comfort on or off, which helps prevent turning off climate controls by mistake or running the system longer than you intended.
Check in with Pet Cam (R2 only)
Pet Cam uses the R2 interior cabin camera so you can check on your pet from the Rivian mobile app while Pet Comfort is on and live streaming is available.
Live stream: Open the live view from the Gear Guard section of the Rivian app. It includes a real-time cabin temperature badge.
Snapshots: The app dashboard and your phone lock screen regularly update with snapshot images of the cabin, so you can check in without starting a full video stream.
Notes
Pet Cam requires an active Connect+ subscription.
If someone is inside the cabin while Pet Cam is live streaming, the center display provides an option to turn off live streaming to protect privacy. Anyone in the cabin can stop the stream at any time with one tap on the center display.
Pet Cam is not intended for viewing people, and should be used for short periods to help ensure appropriate conditions in the vehicle.
Additional Information
Pet Comfort deactivates the cabin movement sensor and temporarily blocks over-the-air software updates.
Pet Comfort sends notifications to the Rivian app when it turns off, when range becomes critically low, or when the cabin gets too hot.
Pet Comfort turns off if you turn off climate controls, turn on defrost or defog, turn on heated seats, or shift out of Park.
If your range is below 50 miles, you are unable to use Pet Comfort until you recharge.
