What’s the difference between Gen 1 and Gen 2 vehicles?

All Rivian vehicles built through model year 2024 are considered Gen 1. All Rivian vehicles model year 2025 and onward are considered Gen 2.

You can shop available configurations of both Gen 1 and Gen 2 vehicles in R1 Shop, or custom build a Gen 2 R1T or R1S in configurator.

If you’re interested in our Gen 2 Quad-Motor vehicles, you can also place a reservation for R1T and R1S.
