What is Rivian Care?
Rivian Care¹ is two optional vehicle protection products powered by Assurant®. It helps keep your Rivian protected beyond your manufacturer's warranty.²
Coverage costs less when you buy it while your warranty is still active.
Rivian Care has two choices of coverage. You can pick one or both.
Vehicle Service Contract (VSC). It helps cover the cost to repair or replace the high-voltage battery (up to 200,000 miles), drivetrain, mechanical components, safety systems, and more after a covered breakdown. Coverage applies once your Rivian's New Vehicle Limited Warranty ends.² Coverage also includes select wear and tear items from the start of your plan.³ To learn more, see the Vehicle Service Contract brochure.
Preferred Vehicle Protection (PVP). For repairs like covered windshield damage, tire and wheel damage, and paintless dent repair.³ To learn more, see the Preferred Vehicle Protection brochure.
Coverage details, terms, and availability vary by plan and state.
Why we recommend adding Rivian Care when you buy
You can include it in your lease or loan.
You lock in favorable rates.
Vehicle Service Contract pricing accounts for how much Rivian New Vehicle Limited Warranty coverage your vehicle has left.
Certain wear and tear items are covered right away when you buy a Vehicle Service Contract.
The Vehicle Service Contract takes effect the moment your Rivian New Vehicle Limited Warranty ends, by reaching either its time or its mileage limit.
Example. You buy a new Rivian R2, which comes with a comprehensive warranty of 4 years / 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first. You add a +2 year Rivian Care Vehicle Service Contract, for 6 years in total. You reach 50,000 miles before the 4-year warranty term ends. Your Vehicle Service Contract begins at that point. It helps cover the cost to repair or replace mechanical components, safety systems, and more after a covered breakdown until the end of the 6-year term.²
Can I choose one coverage or both?
Yes, you can choose both. Eligible customers can choose one or both, depending on their vehicle, state, and the coverage options available. Right now, the same eligibility requirements apply to both plans, since enrollment currently offers both together. That may change in 2027, when eligibility could differ by plan.
Which coverage is right for me?
Vehicle Service Contract, for long-term mechanical protection. Choose a VSC if you want financial predictability after your factory warranty expires. It covers unexpected repair costs for major vehicle components and systems.
Preferred Vehicle Protection, for everyday hazards. Choose PVP if you want coverage for routine road mishaps. It protects against common ownership events like tire and wheel damage, windshield cracks, exterior dents, and key replacement.*
*Plan availability and coverage limitations vary by state. See Where Rivian Care is available.
Can I transfer Rivian Care to the new owner if I sell my vehicle?
Yes. You can transfer your Vehicle Service Contract, your Preferred Vehicle Protection, or both to a future buyer, which can help your vehicle's resale appeal. Transfers are subject to contract requirements, and a transfer fee may apply. See your contract for details.
How do I cancel or transfer my contract?
Contact Assurant directly. Call toll-free at 1-855-277-0012 or visit www.vehiclecareplan.com to start. Assurant will guide you through the next steps based on your contract and your state's requirements.
