What is Rivian Assistant?
Rivian Assistant¹ is your AI-based digital co-pilot, designed to help make daily life easier. Using your voice, Rivian Assistant allows you to control vehicle features, make calls, send text messages, plan your next adventure and more.
Using Rivian Assistant
Activate Rivian Assistant with your voice by saying “OK Rivian” or “Hey Rivian.” You can also start a conversation by using the Rivian Assistant icon on the center display or by holding the left thumb control wheel on the steering wheel.
Rivian Assistant responds to natural language, so there’s no need to remember specific voice commands or prompts. And because the assistant is integrated directly to the vehicle's systems, it gives you direct control over your Rivian in ways other voice assistants can’t replicate.
Some examples of how Rivian Assistant can help you include:
Hands-free utility: Change settings on the fly, like switching drive modes, adjusting ride height, opening the front trunk, changing the temperature or checking EV-specific features like range-on-arrival estimates.
Context-aware intelligence: The assistant understands natural language and complex context, allowing you to make requests like, "warm up everyone's seats except mine," which will result in all of your passengers’ seats warming up.
Smarter navigation & media: Ask for directions, search the map for generic points of interest like a coffee shop near your destination or ask questions about your media, such as "When did this song come out?"
Voice-powered messaging: Go beyond simple message dictation by accurately reading your texts, summarizing them and helping to draft replies.
Vehicle expert: Rivian Assistant is an encyclopedia for your vehicle and the world around you. It is grounded in deterministic data, real-time vehicle logs and a custom built system for your owner's manual, enabling you to ask in-vehicle troubleshooting questions like, "How do I change the tires?"
General information: Get answers to general questions, like weather conditions at your destination, a summary of local news stories and more.
