When we designed the interior of R2, we wanted it to feel refined, inviting and functional from the very first drive and for years to come.
From the beginning, we believed a premium interior shouldn’t feel fragile or overly precious. It should feel comfortable, capable and ready to be lived in. Every material, surface and detail inside R2 was selected not only for how it looks or feels, but for how it performs over time while still delivering the warmth and craftsmanship you expect when you step into a Rivian.
Sustainability played an equally important role in shaping the interior of R2. Nearly every interior textile is made from post-industrial recycled polyester, over 99% of our interior textile weight comes from recycled packaging waste, the flooring incorporates recycled shoreline materials and our Adventex seating material includes sustainably sourced content without compromising durability or comfort expected inside a Rivian.
Designed to Live with You
Inside R2, soft-touch surfaces, textured finishes and high-wear materials were engineered to resist scuffs, staining and fingerprints while continuing to look clean with minimal upkeep.
Fewer glossy surfaces that constantly show smudges. More thoughtful textures that naturally hide everyday wear. And materials designed to age gracefully through years of daily use.

Wipeable Seating Surfaces Our second-generation Adventex seating material is engineered to resist scuffs and stains while remaining soft, comfortable and easy to clean. Dirt, spills and everyday wear stay closer to the surface for quicker cleanup.
Easy to Clean Flooring Flat-woven flooring helps prevent dirt, mud and crumbs from getting trapped deep in the material. The mats can be easily removed, shaken out and hosed down in seconds.
Practically Smudge-Proof Across the dash and door panels, textured non-glossy surfaces help reduce visible smudges and fingerprints while maintaining a clean, refined appearance over time.
Designed for Easy Access and Fresh Air The fully retractable rear glass does more than make room for longer gear. It is instant ventilation and lets fresh air in at the touch of a button to lower every window. With the rear glass down, you’re able to reach every corner making it easier to access and clean the rear cargo area.
Storage for the Things You’d Rather Keep Outside the Cabin R2’s best-in-class front trunk storage provides a dedicated space for wet gear, muddy shoes or anything else you’d prefer to keep separate from the main cabin.
Putting R2 to the Test
In our latest video, we wanted to see how the R2 holds up against its toughest critics yet: kids. We let our teammate’s two sons go wild, while our other teammate Maston pulled the short straw for clean up duty. Spoiler: it wipes right up.
