In recent weeks, more and more R2 vehicles have been out in the wild eating up miles, as hundreds of production-intent builds come off our pilot line.
They may all be dressed the same, but each serves a distinct purpose. From infotainment to vehicle dynamics, from autonomy to durability, these vehicles are going through final validation and refinement to ensure they meet or exceed every target we’ve set.
This last phase of development, where we cross our t’s and dot our i’s, helps ensure we’re sending a fully refined and optimized vehicle to our manufacturing plant when production begins. One big advancement we made with R2, was to have hard tooled parts from a very early stage in development. That means these vehicles were built with production-intent tools, so we can be confident in what we’ll see in saleable production.
