The energy was electric as a record 800+ Rivian employees, family, friends and community members attended the Rivian 5K/1 Mile walk at Heartland Community College on Saturday, April 26. Proceeds benefited two local non-profit organizations, the Ecology Action Center and Friends of the Constitution Trail, totaling $12,160.

“This is an amazing opportunity for Rivian and the community to come together in support of local organizations,” said Laura Ewan, Lead Employee Communications & Experience Partner at Rivian. “We are proud to hold this race and show our Normal Pride to our community, especially during Earth Month.”

The excitement extended beyond the finish line as participants enjoyed refreshments and the chance to explore Rivian vehicles. Participants also received a Rivian swag bag filled with giveaways, including a commemorative pin and, thanks to our Rivian community partner Reinhart Landscaping, a tree to take home and plant.

“The Ecology Action Center (EAC) was extremely grateful to partner again with Rivian and the Friends of the Constitution Trail on this great event!” said Michael Brown, Executive Director at the Ecology Action Center. “Partnerships like this bring so many benefits to our community—providing for a healthy and fun recreational activity while also boosting support for the EAC and Friends of the Trail.”

Collectively over the last three years, this annual event has raised $25,000 for the non-profits to fund tree planting throughout the community and along community trails.
