For Rivian, design has always been a multi-sensory experience, found in everything from the unmistakable appearance of our vehicle’s face to the smooth touch of our interior wood accents. During Art Week Miami Beach, we’re bringing this design philosophy to life by engaging the senses through sight, scent, and touch. Our concept, "Rewilding the Future," is an immersive exploration of the natural systems that shape our design process. It's an invitation to see Rivian as design-forward, quietly bold, and deeply human.
Sight
Color is a core pillar of Rivian’s brand identity and our most visible expression. Making its debut during Art Week Miami Beach is our newest exterior color, Borealis. Available now for a limited time on Tri and Quad configurations, this color is a dynamic, deep velvety purple that shifts with the light and captures the essence of the aurora borealis, nature's most spectacular light show. The inspiration for Borealis came directly from our community. During a 2024 solar event, a group of Rivian owners shot photos of their vehicles glowing under the surreal, purple-washed sky and it captured our design team’s imagination. Borealis pays homage to the spirit of exploration that defines our owners and celebrates the unexpected beauty found in mother nature. To complement this new color, we are also debuting our new 20" All-Terrain Burnished Bronze wheel, available exclusively on the new Quad-Motor lineup.
We invite guests to see Borealis’ delicate transformation from blue to red, paired with celestial effects that mimic the dynamic beauty of nature within our Borealis experience.
“The concept was drawn from the wonder and unexpected elements of life balanced by a deep appreciation for the simple beauty found in the everyday” – Sophia Park, Director, CMF Design.
Borealis is the latest in Rivian’s unique color journey, one that began with Launch Green, a color born from the raw, functional e-coat process—the electrostatic layer every Rivian receives before its final color. The raw, functional green holds the tension of engineering and nature, and it’s always felt deeply connected to who we are. Over time, the story behind it became so integral to our identity that it evolved into a core brand color we now call Rivian Green. We partnered with the Pantone Color Institute™, the global authority on color, to develop and standardize Rivian Green, celebrating it as the thread that ties everything back to the process that shaped us. Guests will be able to see this story highlighted in Hues of Adventure.
This exploration of 'Sight' culminates in an interactive look at the future. The Color Vault invites guests to explore concept colors developed by our vehicle design team. A projection and light installation gives guests the opportunity to mix a color live on a vehicle and create a digital takeaway version.
We couldn’t celebrate color in Miami without bringing back our Miami Edition vehicle. A love letter to the city's vibrancy and creativity, the R1S Quad Miami Edition is finished in Glacier White with pops of aqua and pink and features custom-painted 22” Miami Edition Wheels, and a special Ocean Coast & Driftwood interior. Following resounding feedback from our community, we are releasing a limited run of ten vehicles as our latest handcrafted Studio Originals. See it on display at our Aventura and Brickell spaces starting December 4.
Scent + Touch
We continue to explore more lifestyle-driven, subtle layers to define the Rivian brand. During this exploration, scent quickly emerged as a powerful, yet often overlooked element of design that we wanted to pursue. Our exploratory creation process is highlighted in The Scent of Terrain and is an invitation into that journey.
Guests during Art Week Miami Beach will be the first to experience it. Inside, they can deconstruct the scent, smelling the individual top, mid, and base notes in glass flasks before smelling the combined oil. Ruggedness and sophistication are at the scent's core, inspired by diverse landscapes from alpine to canyon to forest. “Scent is uniquely memorable and we want to get to a place where we have a scent that becomes synonymous with the Rivian brand, sparking that amazing recall that you almost don't realize you have,” said Liz Guerrero, Sr. Director of Marketing Experiences at Rivian. “This is the next step in the learning process, and we're excited to see the response.”
This same philosophy of purposeful, sincere design extends directly to the materials we choose. We're hosting a tactile experience celebrating upcycling and reused materials to bring our materials story to life. We invite guests to participate and make their own objects from recycled materials in partnership with Are You Mad.
