Why Rivian Gives You a Unique Advantage
Most electric vehicles eligible for the MyFirstEV program must fall below specific price limits—$50,000 MSRP for new vehicles and $25,000 for pre-owned vehicles.
Because Rivian is headquartered in California and manufactures only zero-emission vehicles, those MSRP limits don’t apply to our lineup.
That means eligible customers can use the incentive on any new 2026 R1T or R1S, regardless of configuration or purchase price, as well as qualifying Rivian Pre-Owned vehicles.

Who Is Eligible?
To qualify for the MyFirstEV discount on your new or pre-owned Rivian, you must meet all of the following criteria:
- First-Time EV Owner: You must be a first-time purchaser or lessee of a zero-emission electric vehicle in California and plan to register your new EV as an individual (non-commercial).
- California Resident: You must be a current resident of California registering the vehicle in-state.
- No Income Cap: Unlike many other EV incentive programs, there are no income restrictions to qualify.
How It Works
We’ve integrated the state verification process directly into your Rivian digital experience so claiming your savings is seamless:
- Design or Select Your Vehicle: Configure your R1 online, or browse our inventory of Rivian Pre-Owned vehicles.
- Automated Prompting: When you enter your California registration address in the order portal, the system automatically detects your potential eligibility for the MyFirstEV program.
- Upload Your Attestation: Upload the required California Air Resources Board (CARB) attestation form directly within your account portal.
- Instant Credit at Delivery: Once verified, your $3,500 or $1,750 discount is automatically credited toward your final purchase or lease transaction.
