The energy was electric as a record 800+ Rivian employees, family, friends and community members attended the 4th annual Rivian 5K/1 Mile walk at Heartland Community College on Saturday, May 9. Proceeds benefited two local non-profit organizations, the Ecology Action Center and Friends of the Constitution Trail, totaling $12,500.

“This 5K is now an annual event for many, and we are so thankful the community turned out in record numbers to support two wonderful organizations.”

The excitement extended beyond the finish line as participants enjoyed refreshments and the chance to explore Rivian vehicles, including the brand new R2. Participants also received a Rivian swag bag filled with giveaways, including a commemorative finish line pin and, thanks to our Rivian community partner Reinhart Landscaping, a colorful plant to take home and plant.

“Funds raised from the 5K event will support environmental justice adaptation and resilience planning efforts aimed at helping communities prepare for and mitigate the impacts of climate change, particularly in underserved areas of our community,” said Kelsey Bremmer with the Ecology Action Center.

Patrick Dullard with Friends of the Constitution Trail said, "The support from Rivian helps the Friends of the Constitution Trail advance our shared vision of improving the environment and leaving the world a better place for future generations. Funds received from the Rivian 5K have allowed the Friends to substantially increase the number of trees we plant along the Rt 66 Trail in McLean County, including 150 new trees this spring."

Collectively over the last four years, this annual event has raised $37,500.
