At Rivian, we build vehicles to help you explore the world, but we also know that the getting there part can sometimes feel like a chore. That’s why we rolled out Universal Hands-Free (UHF)*, which allows for hands-off, eyes-on driving on over 3.5 million miles in the U.S. and Canada.
Since we rolled out UHF, we’ve been watching how our community is actually using it. From the Pacific Coast Highway to the morning school run, here’s how UHF is showing up in your real-world adventures, and a clear look at what’s included in your Autonomy+* subscription.
UHF in the Wild: Your Stories
Whether it’s an everyday drive or a longer road trip, our community is using UHF to stay relaxed on their journey.
The Explorer We recently heard from an owner taking their R1 through the heart of the Rockies. "I have really enjoyed using UHF on long drives to the mountains and back. UHF worked very well on the mountain pass to Monarch... I especially love that we can now adjust ride heights and drive modes WHILE in UHF!" — Rivian Owner, Brian
The Commuter We’ve heard from owners who arrive at the office feeling recharged rather than drained. By letting their R1 handle the micro-adjustments of stop-and-go traffic, the mental fatigue of the morning rush is a thing of the past. “Long highway stretches used to wear me out, but now I actually look forward to them. It just takes so much of the mental load off and makes the whole experience feel way more relaxed.” — Rivian Owner, Jose
The Family Road-Tripper “Are we there yet?” is a lot easier to handle when the car is managing the heavy lifting. Parents have shared that UHF makes them more patient co-pilots for their families during those long family road trips. “As a parent, UHF has been a game changer. I actually have the energy to engage with my kids in the back seat instead of just gripping the wheel.” — Rivian Owner, Tanya
Rivian’s Free Driver Assistance Features and Autonomy+ Subscription
The most advanced driver assistance feature set that is free of charge is the Rivian Autonomy Platform. Features like Highway Assist with Co-steer offer hands-on active lane following and speed control on 150,000 miles of highways in the US and Canada. The same technology also enables our IIHS Top Safety Pick+ active safety features that work continuously to reduce the risk of accidents at all speeds.
Our Autonomy+ paid subscription expands beyond those free features; providing a regularly evolving suite of driver-assistance technologies.
Pro Tip You can manage your Autonomy+ subscription directly through the Rivian App. Whether you want it for a one-month cross-country trek or as a permanent part of your daily drive, the choice is yours.
See You Out There
Whether you’re hands-on or hands-free, our goal remains the same: making sure the journey is just as rewarding as the destination. To learn more about our Autonomy features, visit Rivian.com/autonomy.
