R1 has always been our North Star — the vehicle that proves you never have to choose between capability and comfort. Today, we're sharpening that flagship status with a set of updates shaped directly by the people who drive R1 every day. Highly-requested second-row captain’s chairs arrive on R1S. Esker Silver joins the R1 palette. R1T gains a new standard wheel built for the trail. And the entire lineup gets reorganized around a simpler, trim-based structure.
Here's everything that's new:
R1 trims, redefined
We’re simplifying how you configure your R1. We are transitioning our lineup from motor-count naming (Dual, Tri, Quad) to three curated trim tiers: Premium, Performance, and the halo Quad.
By grouping our powertrains, battery options, and bespoke interiors into three curated tiers, we've shifted the question from "how many motors?" to "how does this vehicle fit my life?" It also aligns R1 closer to R2's trim structure, so there’s consistency across the Rivian lineup.
Premium: With dual-motor all-wheel drive capability, this vehicle delivers 533 horsepower and 610 lb-ft of torque with 0-60 mph in as quick as 4.5 seconds. An optional power upgrade increases motor output to 665 horsepower and 829 lb-ft of torque with 0-60 mph in as quick as 3.4 seconds.1 A Long Range option is also available on Premium, offering an EPA-estimated driving range of up to 410 miles on R1S and 420 miles on R1T.2
Performance: Blending exceptional power, range and capability, this vehicle delivers 850 horsepower and 1,103 lb-ft of torque with 0-60 mph in as quick as 2.9 seconds from three motors.1 With an EPA-estimated driving range of up to 371 miles on both R1S and R1T, Performance offers a perfect blend of power and capability to elevate every adventure.2
Quad: For peak adventure, Quad retains its trim name as the halo of the R1 lineup. With 1,025 horsepower and 1,198 lb-ft of torque1, this vehicle launches 0-60 mph in as quick as 2.5 seconds on R1T—and ¼ mile in 10.5 seconds—when using Launch Mode.3 Quad’s incredible torque control at each wheel delivers superior on-road performance and next-level off-road capability while offering an EPA-estimated driving range of up to 374 miles on both variants.2
We’ve also refreshed our interior naming to match R2. Performance and Quad trims feature three Signature interiors defined by a tactile blend of wood accents and unique textures.
Slate Sky Signature: Taking cues from overcast beach days, this interior pairs calming greys with plaid details and walnut wood accents.
Black Mountain Signature: Like a rocky peak dotted with trees, warm ash wood accents bring an organic feel to this rich interior.
Ocean Coast Signature: Inspired by the luminous beaches of northern California, sandy shores and cool skies meet weathered driftwood.
For Premium trim:
Black Mountain: Deep black tones and textural dark ash wood accents come together in this bold and durable interior.
Ocean Coast: With soft greys and contrasting dark ash wood accents, this interior is reminiscent of the beach on a cool, crisp morning.
R1 remains a class-leading vehicle. The Quad’s power and capability, the long roadtrip range of our Max pack, the go-anywhere confidence — it's all still there. It’s now easier than ever to configure your ultimate adventure vehicle.
R1S: More comfort for the crew
You asked. We designed and built it: R1S is now available with second-row captain’s chairs—our most requested interior feature to date.
The new six-seat configuration is built around a center pass-through, so anyone can slide into the third row without adjusting the second-row seats, or disturbing car seats installed in them.
Thoughtful Touches: Each captain’s chair features an individual armrest that stow flush into the seat when not in use, along with a push-to-release cup holder that folds down from the inside edge of the seat — small details that make a big difference on long-distance adventures.
No Compromises: Both seats are heated, fold flat, and retain full car seat tie-downs, so families lose nothing in the switch from the bench configuration.
Gear-Friendly Pass Through: Skis, surfboards, and other long gear can slide straight through the center of the cabin while all six passengers stay comfortably seated. The more open cabin feel comes without giving up the R1S's class-leading cargo capacity.
Prefer seven seats? The second-row bench offering seating for seven remains available on both interiors on R1S Premium and Black Mountain Signature on R1S Performance and Quad.
R1T: Even more trail ready
The new combination 20" Adventure All-Season wheel and tire gives you more traction for every off-road adventure without the on-road range sacrifice that usually comes with a more capable tire.
Standard on R1T Premium and available as a no-cost option on R1T Performance, this Goodyear tire offers balanced all-around capability and rolling resistance. It delivers an EPA-estimated range of 300 miles on Premium, 380 miles on Premium Long Range, and 348 miles on Performance, maximizing range wherever your adventures may lead.2
Esker Silver arrives on R1
Esker Silver — the liquid-metal finish first introduced on R2 — now comes to R1, replacing LA Silver as the included paint option across both R1S and R1T.4
Inspired by the winding ridges of gravel and sand that glaciers leave behind, fine metallic flakes bring depth to this shimmering silver, highlighting R1's iconic silhouette from every angle. It's available across all R1 variants and with every interior — and it brings R1 and R2 into a unified color theme, connecting our flagship to the next chapter of the Rivian family.

Actual vehicle capability will depend on selected options and trim. Torque, horsepower, and acceleration timing estimates vary based on battery, tire, drive modes, vehicle load and weather.
Official EPA values are noted. The EPA estimates range through a series of standardized lab tests that mimic real world conditions. Factors including tires, drive modes, weather conditions, HVAC settings and accessories can all have an impact on range. All range estimates are based on a configuration with 22” road wheels and tires. Range estimates for R1T with 20” Adventure wheels are 300 miles on Premium, 380 miles on Premium Long Range, and 348 miles on Performance.
Launch Mode is designed for use on a closed circuit track in dry road conditions. Do not use Launch Mode on public roadways where traffic or pedestrians are present.
Prices shown are for USA-market vehicles. Actual pricing may vary. Additional taxes and fees will apply based on location.
