Unlike basic voice command tools found in phone-mirroring systems, Rivian Assistant is built directly into your vehicle’s hardware and software, providing the unique power to talk to every aspect of the vehicle and get things done for you.
In our latest software update, the assistant is rolling out to all compatible Rivian Gen 1 and Gen 2 owners who subscribe to Connect+ or are in an active trial, bringing an entirely new level of utility to the hardware you already love.

Hey Rivian, What Can You Do?
Built on our Rivian Unified Intelligence framework, Rivian Assistant makes everyday tasks completely hands-free, allowing you to keep your mind on the moment and your eyes on the horizon. To summon Rivian Assistant, you can either hold the left steering wheel button or simply say “Hey Rivian.”
Because the assistant is connected directly to your vehicle's systems, it gives you direct control over hardware that other assistants cannot reach. Some examples of how Rivian Assistant can help you include:
Hands-free utility Prep the car or adjust settings on the fly, such as changing drive modes, adjusting ride height, opening the front trunk, adjusting the climate, or checking specialized EV features like range-on-arrival estimates.
Context-aware intelligence The assistant understands natural language and complex context, allowing you to issue advanced, context-aware commands like, "Make everyone's seat toasty except mine."
Smarter navigation & media You can ask for directions, search the map for generic points of interest like a coffee shop near your destination, or ask questions about your media, such as "When did this song come out?"
Voice-powered messaging You can feel good using Rivian Assistant to send an ETA text to a friend, knowing it will sound like you. Our AI-assisted messaging goes beyond simple dictation by accurately reading your texts, summarizing them, and helping you draft iterations of a message.
Resident vehicle expert Beyond daily productivity, Rivian Assistant is an encyclopedia for your vehicle and the world around you. It is grounded in deterministic data and a custom built system for your Owner's Guide, enabling you to ask in-vehicle troubleshooting questions like, "How do I change the tires?"
Going beyond the cabin The assistant can also answer general knowledge questions, such as fetching real-time weather, or summarizing the local news.
Sophisticated Agentic Integrations
Most assistants can only do one thing at a time. Rivian Assistant does not just talk; it gets things done proactively through an in-house agentic framework. This allows the assistant to effortlessly link apps together and integrate with third-party tools.
Our first external agentic integration is with Google Calendar, helping you control your calendar in a safer and easier way than what you would have done on your phone. You can easily ask the assistant to check your schedule, manage appointments, or move a meeting with a simple command like, "Move my meeting with Tim to 7pm." In a single flow, the assistant can check your schedule, find a coffee stop on your route, and text your contact your estimated arrival time.
Intelligence On Your Terms
You are always in the driver's seat when it comes to your data, equipped with intuitive privacy controls to toggle off the "Hey Rivian" phrase word, limit location sharing, or disable the memory feature. Any personal context the assistant learns is saved securely to your specific driver profile.
Connected experiences that require the cloud, including the full capabilities of Rivian Assistant, are in English only and available to Gen 1 and Gen 2 owners subscribed to Connect+ or within a trial period.
