Rivian OS 2.0
R2 runs on an entirely new software foundation: a fast, intuitive interface built from scratch by Rivian's software and design teams. Leveraging the power of our new streamlined architecture and Unreal Engine 5, the center display in R2 brings stunning, state-of-the-art graphics to the cabin, making interaction with your vehicle's settings deeply visual and immersive. There’s also a new layout in Rivian OS 2.0, making often-used functions easier to access and navigate.
And because Rivian builds vertically-integrated hardware and software, R2 will gain meaningful updates via software right from your driveway. R2 evolves this vertically integrated approach even further by embedding AI into our technological design from the beginning — starting with the system-on-chip — and with a new, streamlined electrical architecture that delivers more capability with less complexity, providing ample headroom for future updates and new features.
Haptic Halo Wheels
R2's steering wheel puts the controls you reach for most right at your fingertips. The in-house designed Haptic Halo Wheels scroll, push, pull, and tilt to manage climate, media, drive modes, and more. Not only that, but they are built for R2’s software and OS 2.0, meaning when you feel a "notch" in the wheel as you scroll, it’s synced with the animations on the screen, fostering seamless navigation while driving. With distinct physical feedback so you always know exactly what you're adjusting, your focus stays exactly where it belongs: on the road.
Rivian Autonomy Platform*
Designed for the road ahead, every R2 comes equipped with an advanced hardware suite built into every trim, making our next generation of hardware standard across the lineup. This system brings L2+ hands-free assisted driving to 3.5 million miles of roads across the U.S. and Canada* via Universal Hands-Free**, with a limited rollout of Point-to-Point driving coming to R2 and R1 Gen 2 fleet later this year, followed by widespread rollout in 2027.
Every R2 delivery includes a 60-day trial to Autonomy+***, and Launch Package owners get access included at no extra cost.
Off-The-Grid Intelligence
R2 is outfitted with 200 sparse TOPS of edge AI compute dedicated to the in-cabin experience. This includes enabling the Rivian Assistant (launching on R2 later this summer), Rivian’s in-vehicle voice assistant that understands you, your vehicle and your context — to smoothly run complex tasks locally on the edge, even if the vehicle is offline.
All the Displays You Need
R2 offers flexibility and control with two displays — an 11.5″ driver display in front of the steering wheel for more utility on the road, and the 15.6″ center display — for a deeper dive into navigation, infotainment, drive modes and more.
Ultimate Onboard Power
R2 is your mobile power source. Whether you are working from the trail or camping out for the weekend, we packed the interior with multiple high-output USB-C ports alongside a full 120V household outlet in the rear cargo area to keep laptops, camera batteries, and coolers humming.
