What is the Rivian Autonomy Platform?
All Gen 2 R1 vehicles come standard with the Rivian Autonomy Platform – a suite of hardware, cameras, sensors, cloud connectivity, and assisted driving and safety features. With 360-degree visibility, eleven high-resolution cameras, five radars, and redundant sensors, the system can see further and more clearly even in poor weather and light conditions. R1 has the most megapixels of any electric vehicle in the United States, and our Autonomy Compute Module is approximately ten times more powerful than our previous generation system.
Standard features include:
Highway Assist: Automatically steer, brake or accelerate on select highways.
Adaptive Cruise Control: Set your speed and automatically accelerate, brake and adjust speed.
Drive Styles¹: Choose from mild, medium or spicy to adjust driving behaviors including gap distance and acceleration.
Co-steer²: Ideal for steering around a pothole or gaining extra room when passing a large truck.
Lane Departure Warning: Warns you if you drift too close or cross lane markers without a turn signal on.
Lane Keep Assist: Helps steer you back into your lane if you unintentionally drift close to or over a lane.
Park Assist: A 360° detection system designed to help sense and alert you to objects.
Blind Spot Warning: Detects vehicles in your blind spots and warns you if you indicate with your turn signal that you are going to move into the occupied lane.
Automatic High Beams: Automatically switches the headlights from high to low beams when a vehicle is detected ahead.
Rear Cross-Traffic Warning: Alerts you to traffic approaching from the side when backing up.
Forward Collision Warning: Warns you of potential collisions with people and cars ahead.
Automatic Emergency Braking: Applies the brakes to help mitigate or prevent a collision.
Dynamic Brake Support: Supports your braking to help mitigate or prevent a collision.
Like all driver assistance systems, the safety and convenience features powered by the Rivian Autonomy Platform require your full attention on the road. You should not use a hand-held device behind the wheel.
Introducing Autonomy+³
Autonomy+ is an optional upgrade that is available on our latest vehicles and features an even broader set of enhanced capabilities.
Universal Hands-Free⁴
Enjoy hands-free assisted driving on 3.5 million miles of roads in the US and Canada. You'll see the Universal Hands-Free icon near the speedometer when driving on roads with clearly marked lanes. Simply pull the drive stalk towards you twice to activate and drive hands-free.
Lane Change on Command⁵
When driving on a divided highway with Universal Hands-Free engaged, you can turn on your blinker and your vehicle changes lanes in the direction indicated.
Trial period
If you didn’t include Autonomy+ to your order, you’ll receive a 60-day trial that starts on delivery day.
At the end of the trial, you’ll have the option to add Autonomy+ to your vehicle as a monthly subscription or one-time purchase. You can also use Rivian Rewards you’ve earned towards a one-time purchase. Learn more in your Rivian account.
Option | Cost |
Subscription | $49.99/month |
One-time purchase | $2,500 |
Note: In the event of ownership transfer, a one-time purchase of Autonomy+ stays with the vehicle.
¹ Carefully review the Owner’s Guide to understand each Drive Styles setting (mild, medium and spicy) and how it impacts vehicle acceleration, braking and lane change behavior.
² Consult the Owner's Guide for additional information on using Co-steer.
³ Rivian Autonomy+ features are designed to support the driver but do not replace a driver’s judgment or the need to pay attention and control the vehicle. Drivers should be prepared to resume control of the vehicle at all times.
⁴ Universal Hands-Free will not stop or slow down for traffic lights or stop signs. Review the Owner's Guide for additional details about this feature.
⁵ Lane Change on Command automatically performs lane changes at your request only on divided highways.
